Ryslig: Monster Info

Information
name Henry Oak gender cis-male housing 38-8, Apartment #208
canon Dungeons & Daddies age 37 employment Lottablog College
canon point end of S1 sexuality bisexual height 5'8"
monster Lich alignment neutral build scrawny
Changes
first change: october 2023
Henry died, and the flesh of his neck, chest, and knees began to rot away. He didn't notice right away, until his apartment started to smell like something had died in it. (The something was him.) A quartz geode appeared in Henry's apartment, though he had no memory of buying or finding it. It soon became clear that that was actually his phylactery.
second change: november 2023
The flesh of Henry's chest is completely gone, leaving a bare ribcage. Additionally, his neck and knees are empty gaps, with his head and lower legs floating separate from his body. He can manipulate these floating limbs, moving and controlling them within an area 5'8" away from his torso and arms. Henry's rotting ability is much stronger now, and all food he attempts to eat will decay as soon as it's inside his mouth. He must begin to work on training this ability so that he doesn't accidentally decay everything he touches.
third change: december 2023
Henry will experience the last of his changes, getting both his fog form as well as his “raiment” and “armor.” Rather than having traditional lich's raiment or armor, Henry's “raiment” is his Birkenstocks, which are now fused to his feet and cannot be removed, regardless of what form he is in, and his “armor” is his glasses, which he only removes to sleep and to clean them. Not only are the glasses not prescription, they also provide no additional defense, so they are purely for aesthetic. During periods of intense fog, Henry may enter his fog form, during which time the rest of the flesh remaining on his body will rot and disintegrate away, along with all of his clothes except for the glasses and Birkenstocks. He will just be a walking skeleton with eyewear and shoes. Any clothing he attempts to put on to cover his bony body will also decay away. Once the fog dissipates, his flesh will re-grow and he will be able to wear clothes again. Somehow, he will be able to put socks on underneath his Birkenstocks, despite the fact that he can't remove them.
later changes, as of yet unplanned: month yyyy

(full)
normal form Henry's head, arms, and feet look normal (albeit a little pale). The flesh of his torso has completely dissolved, leaving an exposed spine, ribcage, and pelvis. His neck and his knees are completely missing, meaning that his head and feet are separated from the rest of his body. The gaps between his upper thighs and lower calves are jagged, with shards of bone floating like you might see on an x-ray of a particularly bad bone fracture.

Because his heart is now removed from his body and magically implanted into a phylactery, Henry's chest cavity is free real estate completely empty. He has taken to filling it with dirt and compost, complete with worms. His goal is to eventually cultivate rich enough soil to grow some plants. Most of the time, though, this is covered up by his shirt.

fog form During times of fog, all flesh and clothing on Henry disintegrates, leaving him as just a walking, talking skeleton. The only exceptions to this are his glasses and his Birkenstocks, which remain solid. There are still gaps of open air where his neck and knees should be. During this time, his ribcage compost pile is completely visible.
Powers
rot and decay
Liches have a natural affinity for decay. The Liches' magic can inflict decay on humans by touch. In this way, they can shut down a human's senses, inflict terror or fear, bestow insomnia or nightmares, numb sensation or control of limbs, or kill the cells of their victim's body, prematurely aging them or causing their body to rot. Prolonged physical contact is needed for more intense symptoms, and though these damages can be permanent when inflicted on a human, they would last a maximum of one hour on another monster. Until and unless Henry learns to control this ability, he will also decay non-human organic and (to a lesser extent) inorganic matter.

    1. 10/28/2023 - An apocalypse had been sweeping across the peninsula for two weeks with seemingly no end in sight. A local human, Oskar Fernstrom Jr., sent out a message that if enough monsters sacrificed their lives, that could end the calamity and heal the land. Henry volunteered to join the mass suicide. However, he didn't realize that he needed to bring his phylactery with him for his death to actually count towards the total souls needed for the ritual. So, while Henry “died,” and his body regenerated back in his office where his phylactery is kept, the death was, in the end, meaningless and unhelpful. Memories lost: None.
